DiaGenic – providing biomarkers for earlier disease intervention
DiaGenic has the knowhow
For over a decade DiaGenic has been a world leader in developing new biomarker-based patient-friendly diagnostic tests for the early detection of devastating diseases where early intervention is crucial for successful treatment.
DiaGenic’s patented tests are based on the identification and clinical documentation of disease-specific gene expression signatures measured in blood samples. The first two are for the early diagnosis of breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease (BCtect® and ADtect®) and were already CE marked in June 2009.
In response to growing demand, DiaGenic is now making its technology widely available to pharmaceutical and other companies with interests in CNS. Using either our own or the client’s proprietary biobank, we can develop unique biomarker tests to accelerate patient recruitment and monitor response in clinical trials. We can then further develop companion diagnostics for candidate drugs.
An innovative CNS biomarker service
By choosing DiaGenic you will be working with a world leader in the field of biomarkers based on gene expression technology with blood as the sample material. Blood is an ideal surrogate tissue for detection, progression and monitoring of disease and therefore has a huge potential in drug development and as a companion diagnostic.
A proven approach
DiaGenic’s core expertise is concentrated around the identification of gene expression patterns in blood that are characteristic for defined diseases. We have shown that for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson such signatures consist of only a limited set of genes and can be measured using available technology platforms. We expect the same holds for other CNS disorders.
Enabling you to meet your challenges
All the market forecasts state that for both regulatory and reimbursement approval, new drugs will increasingly need blood based companion diagnostic tests to accurately identify the right patient population. In CNS, DiaGenic can give you a fast track to address these important challenges. We already have a pipeline of gene expression signatures for Parkinson’s disease and for identification of patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment that will convert to Alzheimer’s disease. These can be rapidly tailored to your exact needs.
A strong IP situation
DiaGenic has an extensive patent portfolio of more than 100 patents linked to our products and gene expression technology. The increasing portfolio of patents secures DiaGenic’s position as a world leader in the field of molecular diagnostics utilizing blood-based gene expression tests for diagnostic purposes.
A growing track record
December 2010:
DiaGenic and Pfizer signed an agreement for explorative R&D collaboration to identify biomarkers in early stages of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) using DiaGenic’s patented gene expression technology and comprehensive biobank. The agreement covers a modular study which utilizes DiaGenic’s extended gene set from the previous whole genome studies (1200 genes) and blood samples initially from our own clinical studies within the MCI space.
December 2010:
Completion of share capital increase (17 M USD) securing long term financing strategy, to take the company to break even in second half of 2012.
